fun weekend

Here are some pictures from our nice long weekend...

Sara Beth and I went to a cooking class for kids on Saturday morning.  They made popcorn balls.  They are like Rice Krispie treats, you just use popcorn instead of Rice Krispies.  Then they rolled the balls in sprinkles and chocolate chips...mmm mmm good!

Saturday afternoon we went to our neighbor/friend, Hanna's birthday party.  She had a magician come and perform a magic show for all her friends.  I wasn't able to take pictures of the show, but I did get a couple of pictures of all the girls there.

Sunday afternoon the girls jumped in the bounce house.  Chris took pictures of their wild, electric hair!
Then they came inside, rested, and colored

Monday morning the girls had cookies for breakfast (just kidding...they did have a real breakfast first!)
And Monday afternoon we went to the park

Too bad we can't have a 3 day weekend every week!

Project 365

I've made several resolutions for this new year.  I've tried to stick to things that are actually attainable, instead of things that just sound good but know I can't actually do for a year.  My resolutions for 2012 include: running at least 300 miles this year, keeping a cleaner/more organized house, having a quiet time each day, keeping this blog up to date, and taking at least one picture a day.  This last resolution is something called "Project 365".  I downloaded a free app that keeps track of all the pictures I take, and organizes them onto a calendar on my phone.  I will then share my daily pictures with you, here on this blog.  These pictures (as you will see) are completely random.  But they represent a small part of each day.
Here are pictures for January 1 - 8.

January 1 -- bounce house fun
January 2 -- play house fun
January 3 -- Sara Beth playing one of the many new games she got for Christmas, Toy Story Operation (she's really good!)
January 4 -- way too cold for me!
January 5 -- Happy Birthday to me!
January 6 -- celebrating my birthday with friends at Great Outdoors
January 7 -- Chris and I spent the day in St. Augustine and Jacksonville
January 8 -- I ran 4 miles for the first time today!

Happy New Year--We're Back!

These two girls have grown up so much in the last 6 months (since the last post).  I'll catch you up with what they are doing now...

Sydney is 21 months old.  She started daycare in November and is loving it.  She is in a room with 6 other 1 year olds.  Her teachers tell me she's so well-behaved and is such a good listener.  She is talking non-stop.  She can communicate to me her wants and needs.  It is so nice when babies learn to talk.  Guessing what they want when they are crying can be so frustrating.  She's the most polite baby, saying "please", "thank you", and "excuse me" at all the appropriate times.  She continues to love all things Dora and Diego.  She also loves playing with babies, pushing them around in strollers, rocking them, covering them up with blankets, feeding them.  She loves being outside...swinging, sliding, running around the yard, and bouncing on the new bounce house.  She has an undeniable love for animals.  However, Grandma's dog, Pepper, will be the only pet in her life, at least for now.  She knows many body parts.  And can name many common objects.  She wants to do anything and everything Sara Beth does.

Sara Beth is 4 1/2.  She began preschool in August.  She has made lots of new friends at her new school.  Like Sydney's, her teachers say she is a perfect angel in school.  She is learning so much, so quickly.  She has learned 20 "sight words" and can even read them in phrases.  She is beginning to read short books at home, too.  She has a passion for playing "school" at home.  She is constantly in character as "Ms. Samantha" or "Ms. Stasia" (her teachers at school).  She is a huge help with Sydney.  She shares with her (for the most part), helps her eat, tends to her boo-boos, and truly loves her.  Sara Beth also loves playing outside, and we are so thankful for the beautiful weather we've had recently.  Her favorite things of the moment are watching her new Barbie mermaid movie, playing games on the iPad, and tickling with daddy.
